Sewing Portfolio
Welcome to my personal sewing portfolio! This gallery is where I'll share my many years' worth of garments, crafts and any sewing related projects, including full costumes and clothing. These are primarily finished pieces and some even have professionally shot photos too! The "making of" and WIPs (works in progess) photos will be included in the blog post for each piece - as soon as I get to it!

Arwen - Blood Red Gown
Film: 'The Return of the King'

Arwen was portrayed by the lovely Liv Tyler in the Lord of the Rings films. She is an elf who gives up her immortality to stay with Aragorn, the mortal man she loves. This costume was worn in the final film, The Return of the King, and is often referred to in the costuming community as the 'Blood Red Gown' or 'Dying Gown' as at this point, Arwen's fate is tied to the fate of the One Ring.
Retro Hades
Designed & sewn by me

A "mashup" or "fusion" cosplay consisting of a combination of Hades from Disney's animated film 'Hercules' & the 1950s "Poodle" skirt. This is one of my favorite ways to mashup a character. I love to see how many details of the movie or character I can get into the costume design.

Queen Elsa
Design by Pem Designs,
Sewn by me
Pem Designs created this fantastic purple ballgown for Elsa from Frozen. It was based on her first gown of Frozen 2, which was a light purple color. Pem Designs added their own style to it and I couldn't resist making it!
Regency Elsa & Anna
Original characters from Disney
Designed & sewn by me

I love the characters Anna & Elsa from Frozen! However, I didn't want to do the standard costumes, I wanted to do a mashup! It's my favorite type of cosplay after all. So I designed Regency era gowns along the lines of Netflix's Bridgerton series and Jane Austen novels. My sister is the perfect Regency Anna while I am loving the bright blue of Regency Elsa!

Victorian Sailor Jupiter
Original character from Sailor Moon anime & manga
Designed & sewn by me

Another cosplay mashup?? You bet! I've been a lifelong fan of the anime show and manga series Sailor Moon, but I wanted something more grand than the sailor fuku (skirt and leotard uniform) that the characters normally wear. I decided that it would be fun to try a dress from the 1880s Victorian bustle era. And I got several friends to join me in the fun! We had a whole bustle gown Sailor Moon group. I made Sailor Jupiter as she has always been my favorite Sailor Scout.
Totally Hair Barbie
1980s Barbie by Mattel
Sewn by me
Photos #4 & 5 by Mark Edwards Photography
Even before the 2023 Barbie movie released, there was a trend for cosplayers to cosplay their favorite Barbie doll outfits. Sometimes is was famous dolls, sometimes it was the holiday Barbie from their birth year. I decided that I wanted to create a Barbie costume but I wanted it to be of a doll that I actually had as a child. I chose Totally Hair Barbie!

Cinderella Witch
Design by Lady.Holly
Sewn by me
Photos #1, 3, 5, 7 by FX Dandy

Lady.Holly designed witch outfits for several Disney Princess on her Instagram. Her designs were so unique because she used each character's non-princess outfit, their daily dress. I love all of her designs but I'm particularly in love with her Cinderella Witch. I knew I wanted to make it and I love wearing her! With the artist's permission, I added all sorts of extras to the hat like mice, pumpkins and glass slippers to really get the Cinderella theme across.

1930s Winnie the Pooh
Original character from Disney
Designed and sewn by me
Photo #6 by Mark Edwards Photography

I had been wanting to try a 1930s era gown and loved the design of this one. The upturned-V waistline and volumnious sleeves seemed so elegant! I was using stash fabric that I had on hand in red and gold and thus, 1930s Winnie the Pooh was born. I added a festive, period appropriate hat with fuzzy gold ears and a big honey pot bag to complete the look.
